Easy Valentine's Day Craft: Yarn-Wrapped Hearts

Are you're interested in creating a charming and personalized Valentine's Day decor piece? This DIY project can add a cozy and festive touch to your home. Here's a simple guide to help you make "p.s. I Love You" yarn-wrapped hearts:

Materials:

1.     Cardboard or foam board

2.     Yarn in various Valentine's Day colors (red, pink, white)

3.     Scissors

4.     Pencil

5.     Craft glue or hot glue gun

6.     Ribbon or twine (optional)

Instructions:

1.   Heart Template:

·        Draw or print out heart shapes in various sizes on a piece of cardboard or foam board. These will serve as your templates. Mine are 2" hearts from a template I found online.

2.   Prepare Yarn:

·        I used bulky (5) weight yarn but you can make this craft your own by using up scrap yarn and colors to match your home decor. You can use one color or create a gradient effect by using different shades or variegated yarns.

3.   Start Wrapping:

Take one end of the yarn and secure it to the cardboard or foam board heart using a small amount of glue.

·        Begin wrapping the yarn around the heart shape, covering it completely. You can wrap the yarn tightly or loosely, depending on your preference.

4.   Switch Colors (Optional):

·        If you're using multiple colors, secure the end of one color with glue and start wrapping with the next color. Repeat until you've covered the entire heart.

5.   Secure the End:

·        When you've wrapped the entire heart, tuck the yarn strand inside the heart to hide it and secure the end of the yarn with glue. This is optional…you could also weave the ends through the heart a few times to secure it.

6.   Repeat:

·        Repeat the process for as many hearts as you'd like. Vary the sizes and colors for a more dynamic and interesting display.

7.   Add Ribbon or Twine (Optional):

·        If you like, you can attach a ribbon or twine to the hearts to create a hanging display. This is great if you want to hang them on a wall, door, or mantel.

8.   Display:

·        Place your finished yarn-wrapped hearts on your mantle, a tiered tray or as a wall art piece. They would also make great bowl fillers for that farmhouse look.

This personalized Valentine's Day decor will add a handmade and heartfelt touch to your home, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. This is also a great craft to enjoy with your kids or grandchildren. Create memories, share the love and enjoy your crafting!
